Christopher "Augie" Augustine

Deputy Director for Operations at the Dept. of Defense (DoD) Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC)

 

Mr. Augustine is the Deputy Director for Operations at the Dept. of Defense (DoD) Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC).  He assumed this position in Jan. 2023 and is responsible for the day to day oversight and execution of DITMAC operations, and for ensuring the timely flow of information across the organization to the 43 DoD Components supported by the DITMAC.  He directly oversees DITMAC’s three operations divisions; Analysis and Mitigation (A&M), Behavioral Threat Analysis Center (BTAC), and Prevention, Assistance and Response (PAR),supervising the management of insider threat risk mitigation across the DoD.  

 

Mr. Augustine served in a variety of roles at the National Security Agency (NSA) before joining DITMAC, with his last role leading NSA’s unauthorized disclosure (UD) program, in close coordination with NSA’s Office of General Counsel and Security offices. In that assignment he administered NSA’s management and operational capability to improve identification, reporting, tracking, and mitigation of UDs.  Prior to this role he held positions within the strategic communications organization culminating as the Senior Strategic Communications Advisor, where he led the NSA’s full-spectrum communications for the 2020 Presidential election.

 

Mr. Augustine has a 20+ year career in strategic communications both in and outside of government service. During his career he held positions of increased responsibility to include leading large teams as the Chief Communications Officer at both the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Columbia, S.C., and before that with General Electric’s Lighting division, Cleveland, Ohio. 

 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Augustine served in the U.S. Army, retiring in Apr. 2012. There he held a number of roles within the infantry branch, and then transitioned to become a public affairs officer, concluding his Army career as the Chief of Media Plans and Engagement at U.S. Special Operation Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.      

 

Mr. Augustine holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications, with emphasizes in public speaking & rhetorical criticism, and separately in public relations, from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
